Product & Installation Guarantees
Set out below is the full Contractual text of our Guarantee:
Subject to the conditions set out below 1st Home Improvements Group
Limited guarantees that the goods supplied will be free from inherent
defects in materials and workmanship for a period of:

All as above in respect of materials and manufacturing workmanship
and additionally in
respect of installation workmanship |

Conditions
Where timber products have been installed the Company shall not
be responsible for minor swellings or shrinkage or for nominal defects
that are cosmetic and do not affect the operational performance
of the product.
Supply Only Products intended for use outside of the Area may require
special reinforcing or finishing for Exposed Conditions (Wind-Loading)
and Coastal Areas (Salt Spray/High Density Salt Atmosphere) and
this should be brought to the attention of 1st uPVC Double Glazing
prior to manufacture.
It shall remain the responsibility of the Customer(s) to maintain
all products in compliance with the Companys' maintenance instructions.
The Company shall be under no liability and have no responsibility
in respect of any defect arising from subsidence, heave or other
ground movement, storm damage, fair wear and tear, shrinkage or
expansion due to weather or atmospheric conditions, willful damage,
negligence or neglect or the Customer(s) failure to follow the Companys'
maintenance instructions, misuse, acts of terrorism, Acts of God,
or alteration or repair of the goods by anyone other than the Companys'
authorized representatives.
Transfer
All guarantees are transferable to new owners without charge
* & ** Timber Grading
Timbers are graded as * "moderately durable" and ** "durable." The
test for grading is to drive an untreated stake into the ground;
if it takes between 10 & 15 years for the stake to rot and fall,
then it is "moderately durable." If it takes between 15 & 25 years,
then it is "durable." As the test is carried out with untreated
timber that is in contact with the ground, it follows that properly
treated and maintained timber in a normal situation will last for
many more years.
Indeed, there are many thousands of both softwood and hardwood existing
windows that are well in excess of 100 years old.
